Phytophthora mediterranea sp. nov., a New Species Closely Related to Phytophthora cinnamomi from Nursery Plants of Myrtus communis in Italy
نویسندگان
چکیده
Monitoring surveys of Phytophthora related diseases in four forest nurseries Italy revealed the occurrence fourteen species to be associated with collar and root rot on plants typical Mediterranean alpine regions. In addition, a multilocus phylogeny analysis based nuclear ITS ß-tubulin mitochondrial cox1 sequences, as well micromorphological features, supported description new belonging phylogenetic clade 7c, mediterranea sp. nov. was shown symptoms myrtle seedlings. Phylogenetically, P. is closely cinnamomi but two differ 87 nucleotides three studied DNA Morphologically can easily distinguished from basis its smaller sporangia, colony growth pattern higher optimum maximum temperature values. Data pathogenicity test showed that has potential threaten native maquis vegetation. Finally, discovery nurseries, confirms progressive expansion this towards cold environments, probably driven by climate change.

Phytophthora foliorum sp. nov., a new species causing leaf blight of azalea.
A previously unknown Phytophthora was recovered more than 60 times from evergreen hybrid azalea leaves collected during surveys for the sudden oak death pathogen Phytophthora ramorum in California and Tennessee. The novel Phytophthora was discovered when genomic DNA from this species cross-reacted with the ITS-based diagnostic PCR primers used to screen plants for the presence of P. ramorum. Th...
متن کاملPhytophthora multivora sp. nov., a new species recovered from declining Eucalyptus, Banksia, Agonis and other plant species in Western Australia
A new Phytophthora species, isolated from rhizosphere soil of declining or dead trees of Eucalyptus gomphocephala, E. marginata, Agonis flexuosa, and another 13 plant species, and from fine roots of E. marginata and collar lesions of Banksia attenuata in Western Australia, is described as Phytophthora multivora sp. nov. It is homothallic and produces semipapillate sporangia, smooth-walled oogon...

During large-scale surveys for soilborne Phytophthora species in forests and semi-natural stands and nurseries in Europe during the last decade, homothallic Phytophthora isolates with paragynous antheridia, semipapillate persistent sporangia and a growth optimum around 25 degrees C which did not form catenulate hyphal swellings, were recovered from 39 host species in 16 families. Based on their...
متن کاملA high-temperature tolerant species in clade 9 of the genus Phytophthora: P. hydrogena sp. nov.
A previously unknown Phytophthora species was isolated from irrigation water in Virginia, USA. This novel species produces abundant noncaducous and nonpapillate sporangia in soil water extract solution. It sometimes produces chlamydospores and hyphal swellings in aged cultures and in Petri's solution. This species has optimum vegetative growth at 30 C and grows well at 35 C. The lowest and high...
